About
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Tien received a B.S. in chemical engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 1999 and a master's degree in chemical engineering from Johns Hopkins in 2000, before pursuing a career in dentistry. He received his doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2005.
He completed a six-year oral and maxillofacial surgery program at New York University Medical Center, which included Bellevue Hospital Center and the VA Manhattan Hospital. He obtained his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine in 2009 and completed one year of general surgery.
Dr. Tien also completed a one-year facial cosmetic surgery fellowship at the Institute of Facial and Cosmetic Surgery in Salt Lake City, Utah. He holds attending privileges at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, is board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery and facial cosmetic surgery, and has served as president of the D.C. Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Reviews and evaluates lectures, course materials and curricula for scientific accuracy, objectivity and relevance, and works with instructors, the Planning Committee and CE staff so materials meet One World Dental's educational standards.
