Course Overview
This self-paced online lecture series follows the tooth from diagnosis to a preserved site ready for future implant placement. It is built for general dentists who extract teeth and want more predictable ridge outcomes.
Six modules cover the biology of oral infection and bone resorption, atraumatic and surgical extraction techniques, socket preservation protocols, graft and membrane selection, biologics such as PRF, and real case walkthroughs that include when not to preserve a site.
Learning Objectives
Identify clinical and radiographic signs of oral infection and bone resorption to improve extraction and implant planning
Explain the biologic processes behind inflammation and post-extraction bone remodeling
Differentiate atraumatic and surgical extraction procedures and select instruments that protect the buccal plate
Apply socket preservation techniques in sites with active infection or compromised bone
Choose socket preservation graft and membrane types based on the defect and treatment goals
Understand the role of biologic adjuncts such as PRF in healing and graft integration
Implement suturing and graft-handling strategies that maintain ridge contour
Recognize scenarios where ridge preservation should be deferred in favor of advanced grafting or referral
